This is Down On The Street Bonus Edition , where we check out interesting street-parked cars located in places other than the Island That Rust Forgot . Today we're heading back to Toronto, a city that's given us all manner of interesting old iron in the past, from the Alfa Romeo Giulia Nuova Super 1600 to just about everything else . Twilight Sentinel has found one of the rarest machines of them all, a Gorbachev-grade '87 GAZ Tchaika 14… and it's for sale! Jump away to learn more. galleryPost('DOTSBETorontoGAZ', 3, 'GAZ Tchaika 14 Down On The Toronto Street'); First, we need to get in the right mood to appreciate this fine automobile. A little music, comrades? A while back, I was running errands in Toronto's west end. As I approached a stoplight, I swore I saw the distinct profile of a Russian limousine among the crossing traffic. It was long gone by the time I got there. A week later, I saw it again and collected these shots. OK, so I only have 5 photos...

This is Down On The Street Bonus Edition , where we check out interesting street-parked cars located in places other than the Island That Rust Forgot . Today we're venturing up to the state capitol, where Alan Galbraith- the man responsible for Billetproof - spotted this '77 Arrow, parked right across the street from his '76 "Hurst Edition" AMC Pacer. Now, we don't have any proof that Arnold hisself drives this car when he wants to be inconspicuous, but what better choice could there be? The rebadged Mitsubishi Celeste has governor-grade style, yet doesn't scream for attention. galleryPost('DOTSBESactoArrow', 3, 'Plymouth Arrow Down On The Sacramento Street'); DOTS FAQ

This is Down On The Street Bonus Edition , where we check out interesting street-parked cars located in places other than the Island That Rust Forgot . We Americans often forget that The General's Chevette was sold all over the world (as an Opel Kadett, Isuzu Gemini, or Pontiac Acadian), and the version built in New Zealand was badged as a Vauxhall Chevette . Fine car, to be sure, but the decades have not been easy on the Chevette and few survive. However, Wheels Of Satan has found this pretty straight example on the street in Christchurch and photographed it for us. Is it just me, or do those wheels look like they came from a 70s MGB? Make the jump to read Wheels Of Satan's observations. galleryPost('DOTSBENZChevette', 3, 'Vauxhalll Chevette Down On The Christchurch Street'); dood, and also saw this glorified chevette DOTS in christchurch.. the question is why put the antitheft bar on it... who would steal this POS?? i reckon the real sheepskin seatcovers are worth...

This is Down On The Street Bonus Edition , where we check out interesting street-parked cars located in places other than the Island That Rust Forgot . In addition to being a four time DOTS honoree and Volvo race driver , WhatWouldJesseDo is also a devoted DOTSBE hunter. This time his travels have taken him to Berkeley (which may rival nearby Alameda in terms of Cool Old Cars Per Square Mile, People's Republic or not), where he's found three vintage German chariots parked in the same neighborhood. Apparently that wretched-looking 356 is an everyday commuter and logs hundreds of miles each week. Jump away for many photos. galleryPost('DOTSBEBerkeleyGermans', 6, 'Old German Iron Down On The Berkeley Street'); DOTS FAQ

This is Down On The Street Bonus Edition , where we check out interesting street-parked cars located in places other than the Island That Rust Forgot . You don't see many 1940s cars that live outside and haven't succumbed to the dreaded Rust Monster, but iron atoms have a tougher time getting together with oxygen in Arizona's dry climate. 57Sweptside has spotted this pair of '49 Kaisers in Phoenix, and they look pretty solid. The Traveler is an especially interesting find, due to its weird but functional hatch feature that makes the car into an ahead-of-its-time crypto-utility vehicle. Jump away for all the photos and 57Sweptside's description. galleryPost('DOTSBEAZKaisers', 6, '1949 Kaisers Down On The Phoenix Street'); I spotted this 1949 Frazer Manhattan (?) and 1949 Kaiser Traveler before, but I forgot where they were. I stumbled across them again on my way to pick up a radiator for my 1980 Z28 project. There are actually spider webs between the tires...

This is Down On The Street Bonus Edition , where we check out interesting street-parked cars located in places other than the Island That Rust Forgot . Since it's Maximum Minivan Day , we need a Maximum Minivan Down On The Street Bonus Edition. This mysterious Nissan vannish wagon (or wagonish van) was spotted in Austin by Schnog ; his theory is that we're looking at a Mexican-market Tsuru wagon. Make the jump for the rest of the story. galleryPost('DOTSBEAustinTsuru', 3, 'Nissan Tsuru Down On The Austin Street'); What is the age cutoff for DOTS? While it may not be old, it deserves a look for sheer lost-a-bet-in-the-womb homleyness. I spotted this odd creature in the wilds of Austin Texas today, and I'm thinking third generation Nissan Tsuru, wagon, manufactured in Mexico, of course. I've never even seen one in Mexico. Note the Texas plates, so someone loved this little monster enough to import the thing. Points for the Pomegranate orange paintjob and the...

Last time we saw the '71 Imperial Le Baron that I was helping BobAsh get to the Czech Republic, it was parked down on the Alameda street. Now it's on a boat to Bremerhaven, along with an expat German heading back home after many decades in Nordamerika . galleryPost('ImperialBenz600', 6, 'Imperial Le Baron And Mercedes 600 Head To Germany'); I was a little sad to see the Imperial go, but I love the idea of this monster dropping anchor on some quaint cobblestone Central European street as the locals back away in awe. The Oakland warehouse of the shipping company is so close to Alameda that I was able to walk home after dropping off the Le Baron; BobAsh will have the privilege of driving about 475 miles from the dock to his town in the Czech Republic. I'm envious! The shipper's parking lot is usually full of interesting cars on the first leg of their journey to Europe; Porsches and air-cooled VWs are most common, along with 50s and 60s Detroit iron. The afternoon...

This is Down On The Street Bonus Edition , where we check out interesting street-parked cars located in places other than the Island That Rust Forgot . I just got back from Denver, where I photographed a few cool old cars parked on the street, including a very nice early Mini… but you don't get to see that today. Instead, you get something even better! Denver-based Kitt and EJacobs continue to send in good stuff found in their neighborhoods (south and northwest Denver, respectively), and today we'll be admiring a trio of vintage Detroit wagons that continue to remind us that SUVs didn't always reign supreme in the family-hauling department. Make the jump for many, many photos. galleryPost('DOTSBEDenverWagonsTop', 6, 'Vintage Detroit Wagons Down On The Denver Street Part 1'); The Olds and Plymouth wagons were shot by Kitt . galleryPost('DOTSBEDenverWagonsOlds', 29, '1966 Oldsmobile Wagon Down On The Denver Street'); galleryPost('DOTSBEDenverWagonsPly'...

This is Down On The Street Bonus Edition , where we check out interesting street-parked cars located in places other than the Island That Rust Forgot . Say over here you've got a late-50s Lincoln Premiere that's totally wrecked in front, and over there you've got a GMC truck with a bashed-in rear. You could do the boring thing and part them out or something, but the owner of this fine automobile decided to join the two good halves! Sure, it's completely ridiculous, but the workmanship appears to be pretty good and it's most definitely not the same old thing. Delta5 found this truckcar down on the Chicago street; make the jump to read his description. galleryPost('DOTSBEILChopRod', 6, 'Lincoln Mated To GMC Truck Down On The Chicago Street'); Near Clybourn & Belmont, I discovered the front of a GMC truck mated to the back of Lincoln Premiere. Include a transformers theme, and you have one seriously bizarre car. A look under the car revealed well fab'd...

This is Down On The Street Bonus Edition , where we check out interesting street-parked cars located in places other than the Island That Rust Forgot . You know those movies about the scattered survivors of a heinous plague? Here's a machine that's emerged victorious- though hardly unscathed- from repeated assaults by the dreaded Yersina Rustis . 72Riv spotted this Cressida in Winona Lake, Indiana, a region in which most Malaise Era Japanese cars dissolved like a serial killer's victims in a basement quicklime pit- not that I'd know anything about that- and shot some nice photos and video for us. Jump away for more. galleryPost('DOTSBEINCressida', 3, 'Early Toyota Cressida Down On The Indiana Street'); Today I ran across this old, first gen Toyota Cressida (circa '77-'80). I thought it would fit the DOTS Bonus Edition. I took some photos and some video of it I always find the old pre '80s Japanese steel to be interesting. They were still feeling...

This is Down On The Street Bonus Edition , where we check out interesting street-parked cars located in places other than the Island That Rust Forgot . Key West, Florida, gave us the excellent Trusty Justy , and now has photographed a pair of VW Transporter competitors that still work for a living. Jump away to see all the photos and read his description. galleryPost('DOTSBEKeyWestFCVans', 6, 'Forward Control Vans Down On The Florida Street'); Hey man, Down in Key West I found two classic, American forward-control vans still rolling daily and parked on the street. You can find the photos attached. It's a GMC Handivan and a Corvair Greenbrier, two classic examples of America combating the Volkwagen Type 2. I saw the Greenbrier cruise past me the next day, driven by a woman no less. Cool! P.S: I also included a pic of the very...interesting...Key West Bible Class official van, which is very, very professional. DOTS FAQ

Hayward, California, is an interesting place; a one-time farm town, it was zoned for blight immediately after World War II and balkanized with weird islands of Alameda County unincorporated areas. There were dirt roads in some parts of Hayward until the mid-80s, which is pretty wild for an urban-core city right on the Bay. These days it's a mix of quaint downtown, vast industrial parks that seem to specialize in radioactive dioxin production, generic suburbia, drive-by-shooting gangland turf, and cool vehicles on the street. Especially the latter. Not only do you get every possible variety of original Detroit classic, bewinged Nipponese street racer, jacked-up meth-enhanced primer musclecar, street-sign-shootin' tall truck, old-school lowrider, and diamond-encrusted donk, you get ancient work trucks that have logged millions of miles at an average speed of 14 MPH. Trucks like this painter's work vehicle, which proud Hayward resident Casadelshawn shot for us. galleryPost('DOTSBEHaywardPanel'...

This is Down On The Street Bonus Edition , where we check out interesting street-parked cars located in places other than the Island That Rust Forgot . Today we've got some shots by Project Car Hell Poster Child and serial tipster Franzouse , whose Paris wanderings led him to this riot-proof Kadett. Is Franzouse channeling the spirit of former Alameda High School student and current- in fact, permanent - Paris resident, Jim Morrison, with all these Alameda-grade DOTSBE finds? Make the jump to see all the photos and read his description of this fine piece of German automotive craftsmanship. galleryPost('DOTSBEKrackKadett', 7, 'Krack Kadett Down On The Paris Street'); Went for a walk yesterday, daytime for once, and I wound up in a neighborhood I usually stay away from, the champs Elysées. Attempting to steer away from that pickpocket cesspool, I veered off and found myself on the Avenue Gabriel, which borders the back wall of the garden of the President's Elysée Palace...

This is Down On The Street Bonus Edition , where we check out interesting street-parked cars located in places other than the Island That Rust Forgot . Today we've got some really puzzling cars found down on the Gotland, Sweden street by RobHolcombe . Yes, the same guy who shot the legendary Turk & Stanyon cars in San Francisco had his camera while on a Baltic visit… and the mind reels when trying to imagine what Swedes make of the most Hummer-parody Hummer we've ever seen. Jump away to see all the photos and read Rob's description. galleryPost('DOTSBESwedishHummer', 6, 'American Pride Befuddles Scandinavians'); As promised a while back! Some shots of some Detroit steel as found on the streets of Gotland, Sweden....a great big island in the middle of the Baltic. Maybe there's something here you wanna post...maybe not. Here's the shots of a god awful Hummer H2. Who in their right mind pays to gas that thing up at $10 + / gallon? I can't even imagine...

This is Down On The Street Bonus Edition , where we check out interesting street-parked cars located in places other than the Island That Rust Forgot . With the '91 Alfa Romeo 164L we saw down on the Alameda street this morning, we might as look at a miraculous Alfa this afternoon? Why miraculous? Because this 1991 Alfa Romeo 164L lives down on the Minneapolis street, a street stained red from the ruined metal of cars that dare to park upon it. MBAcuraFan took some shots of this amazingly unrusty Pininfarina creation; make the jump to read his description. galleryPost('DOTSBEMNAlfa', 3, 'Alfa Romeo 164L Down On The Minneapolis Street'); I saw this neo-classic Alfa Romeo 164L sitting on Central Ave NE in North East Minneapolis. In its lack-luster condition, i dont see anyone buying it right away, but who knows? I sure wouldn't. Although it's fairly recent, i thought I would send it in and see if the you liked it. I took the liberty of blurring out the guys phone...
