For the moment it's merely a concept, but the Chevrolet Matiz-based "3-Euro Car" from German supplier Fahrmitgas offers something many price-sensitive Europeans want: the ability to drive 100 kilometers for just €3. The "3-Euro Car" achieves a distance of 100 km on just €3 worth of fuel by utilizing affordable and efficient liquid natural gas (LPG) as the fuel source. Fahrmitgas used their experience developing LPG systems for GM to convert the Chevrolet Matiz to autogas. They also equipped the car with low-rolling resistance tires, a lower stance and an auto start-stop system. galleryPost('3eurolpgcar', 6, 'Three Euro LPG Car'); By American standards, this works out to $4.25 for just 62.24 miles, or a figure achievable by many efficient vehicles in the US. The difference? The cost for unleaded fuel or diesel fuel in Germany is above $6.50 per gallon, meaning a car would have to achieve better than 70 MPG to equal the cost savings of the little Matiz...

We know Chevy probably will beat us over the head with how family-friendly and roomy the Chevy Orlando concept is as its shroud drops at the Paris Motor Show , but naming it after the kid-centric megabux epicenter of Disney just seems a bit extreme. The seven passenger minivan " multi-purpose vehicle with distinctive sport utility-like design " is based on the same platform the 2010 Chevy Cruze rides on and is powered by the same 2.0-liter turbodiesel we Yankees will never see. The press release, dancing like Fred Astaire around the strings of the letters "SUV" and "minivan," is below the fold and another picture more than the two we already had, below. Sorry, they didn't actually have the Orlando here at the GM Paris preview, just on the tube overhead. galleryPost('orlandoconcept ', 3, 'Chevy Orlando Concept'); Chevrolet Orlando show car signals entry into new segment for the brand Paris Motor Show Preview: First Images of the seven-seat...

Here are the first details and photos of the new Chevy Orlando concept MPV ahead of the official reveal at the Paris Motor Show next month. The Orlando, a seven-seat family vehicle based on the Cruze platform, drops it squarely into territory currently occupied here in the states by the Mazda5 and...not much else. The three rows of seating are arranged theater-style for better occupant visibility, and of course, they all fold flat for minivan-like cargo capacity. The photos show a sportier exterior than what we're used to seeing from the MPV market, as well as Malibu cues on the dash and front passenger compartment — all good things, and something we hope to see at our local Chevy dealer toward the beginning of the next decade. Press release after the jump. galleryPost('chevyorlandoparis', 3, 'The Only Thing Orlando And Paris Have In Common'); Chevrolet Orlando show car signals entry into new segment for the brand Zurich - The Orlando show car, making its world...

In 1989, it was increasingly clear a new revolution was coming to the truck market, but what shape it would take was still a mystery. With the staggering success of large body-on-frame SUVs and light trucks just a gleam in the eyes of automakers, GMs design team continued down the path of car-based pickups with the Chevy XT-2 Concept Truck. Although we now know car-based pickups and SUVs lost the battle to large SUVs shortly thereafter, it appears the XT-2, an essentially ignored concept here in the United States, may end up winning the design war. galleryPost('89chevyxt2', 12, 'XT-2 To XTC'); The American SUVs on the market in 1989 were quite a bit different than the generation that would take over in just two years' time. We tend to focus on their crudeness and lack of creature comforts, but more importantly, nearly all "mid-size" SUVs before the 1990s period were two-door models. The exception was the Jeep Cherokee XJ , which was developed with extra doors...

We thought we had all the new vehicles already figured out for Michael Bay's next GM-gasm — Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen . Turns out there are still a few secrets to suss out as a Chevy Trax was spotted running chest to chest with the Chevy Beat moments after the the Bumblebee/Chevy Trax chase shot we saw earlier. Obviously we have no idea which robo-character this little fella will be playing — hey, maybe all the minicars will join together to form Voltron, and we'll have a crazy giant fighting robot crossover movie! ( Again, thanks go out to Rueben )

The votes are in, those who voted in the GM survey to pick the next microcar selected the Chevy Beat (pictured). I guess when you have a contest you shouldn't be surprised when the one you named Beat beats the competition. Out of 1.9 million votes this was the top selection, besting the Trax and the Groove. The Beat is definitely the most boy-racer-futuristic looking, so it's not a shock that it won. How much of this car ends up in the final car is anyone's guess, in the meantime enjoy the photos of your next GM city car.galleryPost('beatchevy', 4, 'Chevy Beat Promo Pics'); [ Car ]
