NBC Today Show 's Matt Lauer is in Detroit, teased a production car live this morning at the Warren Tech Center. Despite rumors of the Beat's demise , it looks like it's the Chevy Beat . Lauer claimed the car would be showing up at the Detroit Auto Show — most likely in production form. Makes sense to us. No reason to include the Chevy Beat in the upcoming second Transformers movie if they're not planning to bring it to market. Of course, they're also including the Corvette Centennial Concept, and we don't think they've got plans to ever produce that. Video coming shortly.

Surprise! Here's the 2010 Chevrolet Equinox scheduled to make its debut at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show . Bet you didn't expect to see this on a Sunday morning did you? galleryPost('10chevyequinox', 6, '2010 Chevrolet Equinox'); The all-new 2010 Chevrolet Equinox builds on the the previous model with more of what segment buyers are looking for across pretty much every aspect. Better interior, better styling, better engines, better transmissions and smarter features. You can bet GM will be trumpeting from the heavens the new Equinox's 30 MPG city rating when optioned with the direct injection 2.4 liter four cylinder and standard six speed transmission, but we've seen the little SUV in the sheetmetal and we're happy to say the Equinox isn't just a fuel economy figure. The new Equinox takes styling inspiration mainly from the Chevy Malibu, but there are hints of other cars in the lineup as well. Outside we see the Equinox gets the new Chevy face, first...

The Detroit News is reporting group vice president and general manager for Toyota of the Americas, Bob Carter, has confirmed the 2010 Toyota Prius will be debuting at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show and will be joined by a uniquely styled and appointed version for Lexus. The Prius was set to move upmarket relative to its former iterations, but with a Lexus version now on the way, Toyota's own marketplace may be getting crowded. But the bigger story is how this news makes things far more interesting for January's Detroit Auto Show. galleryPost('ToyotaPriusSpy', 6, '2010 Toyota Prius Out Testing'); Jalopnik Snap Jugdement : Considering we'll be seeing two all-new dedicated hybrids from Toyota, the formal debut of the 2010 Honda hybrid , who knows what from Nissan , and with the first fully-formed Chevy Volt revealed just a couple months earlier, the 2009 Detroit Auto Show is setting up to be a serious, next-gen hybrid battle royal. More interesting to us, contrary to...

newVideoPlayer("ZR1intw2.flv", 475, 376,"");Our intrepid videographer spent some time listening to Harlan Charles, the Project Manager at GM behind the 2009 Corvette ZR1 talks about his demon ride. During the conversation he manages to fit in as many refs to other products as possible. Count along: Ferrari 599, Audi R8, Corvette Z06, previous gen ZR1. He then goes on to hint inadvertently that the next C6 special edition could involve an environmental twist, but quickly retreats from the statement. Hybrid Vette anyone? Probably E85 Vette first. galleryPost('09CorvetteZR1Detroit', 6, 'Corvette ZR1 Live');

Hey, you know -- who can't get enough of the 600+ HP 2009 Corvette ZR1? We know we can't -- which is why we sent Team Jalopnik photographer Sherry Kraft down to the show floor to get us some more shots of Chevy's new super-hotness. We hope you enjoy these close-up and friendly shots. We did, and we ain't even dragons. galleryPost('09CorvetteZR1Detroit', 15, '2009 Chevy Corvette ZR1 FTW');

var digg_url = 'http://digg.com/autos/Detroit_Auto_Show_600_HP_2009_Corvette_ZR1_Revealed_Live'; Oh yeah, that's it baby, that's it -- work it girl! Work -- oh wait, something's not right. We know why -- that's not a model up there. Nope, it's the 2009 Corvette ZR1 -- unveiled here at the GM Style event tonight for it's first ever public unveiling. For a moment we thought maybe it was just some insanely beautiful woman. Also, we thought we were a dragon. Shoot -- wrong on both counts. Still some sexy metal -- and an amazingly sexy engine. Click the link if you've been living in a cave bereft of any and all automotive news and need to know more about Chevy's new super-Corvette. More pics after the jump.

But, what truly made the evening amazing was none other than Run of Run D.M.C. jumping out on stage to bust some rhymes -- or whatever it is them thar...

Who knew? Seriously -- we're here at the GM Style event and although the place is chock full of pretty people and faux hipsters -- it's unfortunately seemingly rather bereft of the "cars" at the moment. But for a site like Jalopnik , cars are the stars and supposedly we'll be seeing a very special one tonight -- it's the 600+ HP 2009 Corvette ZR1 -- and we're absolutely tingling with excitement and anticipation. So, keep checking back this evening and we'll keep you up-to-date on our first sighting of GM's super-duper car. For the moment be content with a car-star -- GM's Rick Wagoner. He looks totally hawt tonight, OMG!

GM's endowed webshow Garage 419 with a considerable amount of track footage of the soon-to-be outed Corvette ZR1 shot at VIRginia International Raceway. One none-too-surprising observation: at full bore, the kompressor'd LS9 sounds just spacey enough to play the lead role in a movie version of OutRun 2019 (that's Quantum Redshift to you, youngsters). Still, while we're all for the ZR-1's lightness calculus and considerable horsepower, that engine cover -- as seen through the hood window -- looks like the inside of a Hamilton Beach panini maker. We'd have been satisfied with a shaker hood and a feathered roach clip hanging from the rear-view. [ Garage 419 ] galleryPost('2009ChevroletCorvetteZR1P', 6, '2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 In Blue');

Although you'll be able to see it for yourself if you're in town for the Detroit Auto Show next month (or watch the coverage live here on Jalopnik!), you still won't be able to see the new 2009 Chevy Corvette ZR1 the way we're showing it to you right now. If you'll remember, we were the first to show you the unofficial shots of the new 2009 Chevy Corvette ZR1's beautiful 620+ HP LS9 engine . Next we brought you the in-cockpit camera footage of the ZR1 taking a lap at Laguna . Then we had the opportunity to show off all of the pictures and details on the new up-powered Corvette ZR1 . Now we're going to go a little bit more in-depth, showing off all the little bits n' pieces of the supercharged small-block V8 engine under the hood of Zee-Really fast One. Above, you'll find the LS9 completely exploded and below, you'll find all the little bits n' pieces in the detail you know you need. Specific press release on the LS9 below the jump. galleryPost...

newVideoPlayer("CorvetteZR1Harlan_gawker.flv", 475, 376); Man, myth and long curly-haired legend -- Harlan Charles is the man behind the team that brought you the newly revealed 620+ HP 2009 Corvette ZR1 . We've had the opportunity to spend time with Harlan "Corvette Commander" Charles in the past, and he's always got something new to say about the 'Vette -- whether it's wearing a devilish blue stripe, or something more mundane. Without further -- you know, stuff -- here's Charles giving us a quick minute on the new shiny parts on the new super-Vette. At the Detroit Auto Show next month we'll sit down with the product manager for something more in-depth. He doesn't know that yet, but trust us, we will. galleryPost('2009ChevroletCorvetteZR1P', 6, '2009 Chevy Corvette ZR1');

So in case you weren't around, yesterday's big product story was the Hennessey 650R Nissan GT-R 0-60 time new 2009 Corvette ZR1 . And although we're pretty excited we'll be seeing it live at next month's Detroit Auto Show , there were some folks even more excited than us -- like the 'Vette-madmen at BadBoyVettes . You see, in case you didn't notice, "Jake" the Corvette racing skull , made its way into the engine bay of the new uber-Vette and let's just say those Corvette-loving boys are having a -gasm of some sort over the graphic this morning. Would that be a Jakegasm? No wait, maybe it's a Jakegasm? Whatever it is, here's what they have to say about it: galleryPost('09ChevyCorvetteZR1Black', 6, '2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1'); "Embossed on the top of the air intake snorkel ... deep down and almost out of sight ... is an evil looking "Jake" staring up at us, more sinister than ever. var digg_url = 'http://digg.com/autos/The_620_HP_2009_Chevy_Corvette_ZR1_officially_revealed'; This is it. The speculation, rumors and half-truths can now be set aside -- this is the 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, officially revealed for all the world to see. Powered by a supercharged LS9 6.2L small-block engine, the ZR1 hasn't even received an official horsepower number from the engineers toiling away at the General. All Harlan Charles, project manager for the Corvette team was able to tell us last week was the new high-powered 'Vette engine is "capable of producing at least 100 horsepower per liter. That's at least 620 horsepower, and approximately 595 lb.-ft. of torque." Chevrolet wasn't even able to give us a time on the 0-60. Charles was only willing to say "it's in the low three seconds." The small-block engine under the hood is only able to hit those massive numbers due to the addition of the positive-displacement Roots-type supercharger...
