This is Down On The Street Bonus Edition , where we check out interesting street-parked cars located in places other than the Island That Rust Forgot . I just got back from Denver, where I photographed a few cool old cars parked on the street, including a very nice early Mini… but you don't get to see that today. Instead, you get something even better! Denver-based Kitt and EJacobs continue to send in good stuff found in their neighborhoods (south and northwest Denver, respectively), and today we'll be admiring a trio of vintage Detroit wagons that continue to remind us that SUVs didn't always reign supreme in the family-hauling department. Make the jump for many, many photos. galleryPost('DOTSBEDenverWagonsTop', 6, 'Vintage Detroit Wagons Down On The Denver Street Part 1'); The Olds and Plymouth wagons were shot by Kitt . galleryPost('DOTSBEDenverWagonsOlds', 29, '1966 Oldsmobile Wagon Down On The Denver Street'); galleryPost('DOTSBEDenverWagonsPly'...

This is Down On The Street Bonus Edition , where we check out interesting street-parked cars located in places other than the Island That Rust Forgot . Key West, Florida, gave us the excellent Trusty Justy , and now has photographed a pair of VW Transporter competitors that still work for a living. Jump away to see all the photos and read his description. galleryPost('DOTSBEKeyWestFCVans', 6, 'Forward Control Vans Down On The Florida Street'); Hey man, Down in Key West I found two classic, American forward-control vans still rolling daily and parked on the street. You can find the photos attached.It's a GMC Handivan and a Corvair Greenbrier, two classic examples of America combating the Volkwagen Type 2. I saw the Greenbrier cruise past me the next day, driven by a woman no less. Cool! P.S: I also included a pic of the very...interesting...Key West Bible Class official van, which is very, very professional. DOTS FAQ

This is Down On The Street Bonus Edition , where we check out interesting street-parked cars located in places other than the Island That Rust Forgot . Today we've got some really puzzling cars found down on the Gotland, Sweden street by RobHolcombe . Yes, the same guy who shot the legendary Turk & Stanyon cars in San Francisco had his camera while on a Baltic visit… and the mind reels when trying to imagine what Swedes make of the most Hummer-parody Hummer we've ever seen. Jump away to see all the photos and read Rob's description. galleryPost('DOTSBESwedishHummer', 6, 'American Pride Befuddles Scandinavians'); As promised a while back! Some shots of some Detroit steel as found on the streets of Gotland, Sweden....a great big island in the middle of the Baltic. Maybe there's something here you wanna post...maybe not. Here's the shots of a god awful Hummer H2. Who in their right mind pays to gas that thing up at $10 + / gallon? I can't even imagine...

This is Down On The Street Bonus Edition , where we check out interesting street-parked cars located in places other than the Island That Rust Forgot . Today we're going to show that old GM cars don't always dissolve into reddish stains on the pavement, even in a damp climate like the Pacific Northwest. Zeet has photographed this pair of very solid-looking examples of The General's products for us; note that all eight hubcaps are still present! galleryPost('DOTSBEOlyGMs', 3, '1963 Pontiac Bonneville And 1974 Chevrolet Nova Down On The Olympia Street'); DOTS FAQ

This is Down On The Street Bonus Edition , where we check out interesting street-parked cars located in places other than the Island That Rust Forgot . Today we've got a couple of modified Corvettes caught in motion by eagle-eyed readers, one in Quebec and the other in North Carolina. See, the problem with Corvettes is execrable build quality lack of interior space, and here we see two different approaches to solving that problem! Thanks to Seatbelt123 and RacerX for sending these in; make the jump to read their descriptions. galleryPost('DOTSBEHackedCorvettes', 6, 'Fun With Corvettes'); (Corvette 2+2) These photos were taken a few weeks ago by my father while vacationing in Quebec. My father, who is a gearhead and an occasional Jalop himself, noticed this maroon beast lurking along while waiting in line for a ferry to cross the St. Lawrence. It appears to be a C3 Vette which the owner has decided to rebody into a 2+2! You'll notice that from the A-pillar back the...

This is Down On The Street Bonus Edition , where we check out interesting street-parked cars located in places other than the Island That Rust Forgot . We get to see quite a few interesting cars and trucks in Toronto, where they must use magical rust-free salt on the roads during wintertime, and today we've got a huge batch of good ones. In much the same way that a bicycle ride hipped Albert Hoffman to LSD , BMWer pedaled his way to vehicular enlightenment in his neighborhood. Jump away to see all the cars and to read BMWer's description. galleryPost('DOTSBEBMWerToronto', 6, 'Vast Quantities Of Old Iron Down On The Toronto Street'); Here's a whole bunch of pictures I took over two days. I decided to have some fun and ride my bike around the city looking for cool cars while I got some exercise. Anyhow, I found most of these cars within a very short radius of my house, with a few of these being not more than a quarter mile from one another (Innocenti, Aston, GMC...

This is Down On The Street Bonus Edition , where we check out interesting street-parked cars located in places other than the Island That Rust Forgot . Today we're going to look at a foursome of old machines that Dr. Danger has photographed for us in his native Massachusetts. We've got a Continental, a Nova, a Spitfire, and a Ford pickup. Make the jump to read Dr. Danger's descriptions and check out the entire gallery. galleryPost('DrDangerBostonDOTSBE', 3, 'Old Iron Down On The Boston Street'); Continental: Found this convertible MKIII Continental appeared yesterday around the corner from my house (Boston, MA). You can see a tarp in the back seat, so I am guessing the top isn't working at the moment. You can also see some wires bleeding from the driver door. You can't really see much from the pictures, but the car is beat-up from head to toe. It has a Key West "Mile 0" marker sticker, so I am wondering if or when it made that 27+/- hour trip...

We're going to stay in Orange County a while longer, heading from Costa Mesa to neighboring Huntington Beach. We'd mention that Huntington Beach is the official Surf City USA, only we'd probably get howls of outrage from Santa Cruz ; in any case, HB's climate is great for preserving old cars. ß®@ƒƒ spotted this unsafe-at-any-speed '61 in very nice shape- though not so sure those are the best-looking Corvair wheels we've ever seen- parked with the top down to facilitate photography. Do that jump thing to hear what ß®@ƒƒ has to say about his experience. galleryPost('DOTSBEHBCorvair', 8, '1961 Corvair Down On The Huntington Beach Street'); Saw this on the way home from the gym yesterday... which is pretty remarkable. Not the car, the fact that I went to the gym for the first time in 3 months and didn't pass out on the treadmill. Thanks, ß®@ƒƒ! Now let's listen to a catchy little tune from our favorite HB band:

We saw the Chuck D-centric Olds 98 in Toronto a couple weeks back, and now the Canadian contingent is back with a whole bunch of seriously rare machines for our enjoyment. Donkeyassman has spotted a Lotus Europa, Lotus Elan, Chevy Chevelle, Mazda Eunos, and a pair of Honda Beats in the city of Burnaby, B.C. So put on your tuques and make the jump for many more photos and Donkeyassman's description. galleryPost('DOTSBEBurnabyTop', 6, 'Lotii And More Down On The Burnaby Street Part 1'); galleryPost('DOTSBEBurnabyJump', 28, 'Lotii And More Down On The Burnaby Street Part 2'); I took some pics of these 2 sweet lotuses and some other cool stuff in my area - Burnaby just outside vancouver BC .. There is a mazda eunos and 2 honda beats at that one guys house.. He must do some importing I guess.

When you're having a quinto-Belvedere tailgate party at the Oakland Coliseum, you pay to park in the official stadium lot, but when you're swilling cheap beer and wolfing chile verde burritos prior to sneaking into the good seats with your bleacher tickets watching a ballgame from the bleachers, you don't want to pay to park your car. That's why me and my cheapskate friends park in the free Coliseum BART station parking lot for most games, where we often have the opportunity to admire vintage machinery driven by commuters. Some of you may remember the Menacing Bee Van from last year, and here we have a quintet of other interesting rides spotted in the same lot. Apologies for crappy phone-camera image quality. galleryPost('BARTLotCars', 5, 'Five Vintage Vehicles Down On The Oakland Parking Lot'); galleryPost('BARTLotCamaro', 10, 'Early 3rd Generation Camaro Down On The Oakland Parking Lot'); galleryPost('BARTLotBuickLeSabre', 16, '1978...

Since Truck Monday has been a Down On The Street tradition for quite a few weeks, we might as well extend the concept to DOTS Bonus Edition. And who else but Denver's Kitt could go out and find not just one but four cool old Chevy pickups for us? We got what appears to be a '69, a '70, a '72, and a '77, each earning its keep in the 5280. It's a Quadra-Truck-Stravaganza! Make the jump to see four- count 'em, four- additional galleries! galleryPost('DOTSBEDenverChevyTrucksTop', 9, 'Chevy Pickups Down On The Denver Street'); galleryPost('DOTSBEDenverChevyTrucks1', 23, '1969 Chevrolet Pickup Down On The Denver Street'); galleryPost('DOTSBEDenverChevyTrucks2', 21, '1970 Chevrolet Pickup Down On The Denver Street'); galleryPost('DOTSBEDenverChevyTrucks3', 24, '1972 Chevrolet Pickup Down On The Denver Street'); galleryPost('DOTSBEDenverChevyTrucks4', 27, '1977 Chevrolet Pickup Down On The Denver...

You know how all the 30-year-old British Leyland vehicles in England dissolved into heaps of reddish powder long ago? That makes us wonder how in the hell it was possible for a 45-year-old Chevy Corvair- one of the all-time rustophilic cars ever built- to thumb its nose at the odds and remain all bright and shiny in Colchester, England. The aptly-named Rust-MyEnemy caught this '63 in a parking garage and had low-end phone camera at the ready; read his description after the jump. galleryPost('DOTSBEColchesterCorvair', 6, 'British Corvair Somehow Avoids Rust'); Had just installed my car into a dent'n scratch-while-u-wait multi-storey car park, in Colchester (Britains oldest recorded settlement, fact fans), where I came across this here poorly photographed Corvair soft-top. I have an exceedingly wondrous top-o'-the-line cellphone with a 5 megapixel camera. Tragically, while I still own it, it's current location is somewhere in the vicinity of Tokyo station....

Sandwiched between an asphalt plant and a huge yard used for storage of shipping containers from the nearby Port of Oakland, this road is a good shortcut to get to one of my favorite East Oakland junkyards. It's also a popular spot for illegal nighttime dumping, with heaps of dead refrigerators, concrete chunks, etc. often clogging the shoulders. Every so often you get a parts car that's been relieved of its worthwhile components and dumped here, and the latest such car is an '82 or '83 Z28 Camaro. There was a time when I'd have stopped and grabbed some parts myself (there's always something useful on such a car), but these days space restrictions force me to maintain a very selective parts hoard. Can you feel the Late Malaise spirit? Make the jump for an additional gallery. galleryPost('DOTSBEDumpedCamaroTop', 6, 'Abandoned East Oakland Camaro Part 1'); galleryPost('DOTSBEDumpedCamaroJump', 8, 'Abandoned East Oakland Camaro Part 2'...

Once again, Kitt finds us another cool car parked on the streets of Denver; this time she's persuaded the owner to open the doors and engine cover, in an obvious attempt to knock the DOTS crown from Alameda's dome. This time the car is a 1960 Chevy Corvair convertible, which, judging from its showroom-floor condition, doesn't live on the street all the time. Rudy Giuliani must be envious! Make the jump for many, many more photos. galleryPost('DOTSBEDenverCorvairTop', 6, 'Corvair Down On The Denver Street Part 1'); galleryPost('DOTSBEDenverCorvairJump', 48, 'Corvair Down On The Denver Street Part 2');
