newVideoPlayer("ZR1intw2.flv", 475, 376,"");Our intrepid videographer spent some time listening to Harlan Charles, the Project Manager at GM behind the 2009 Corvette ZR1 talks about his demon ride. During the conversation he manages to fit in as many refs to other products as possible. Count along: Ferrari 599, Audi R8, Corvette Z06, previous gen ZR1. He then goes on to hint inadvertently that the next C6 special edition could involve an environmental twist, but quickly retreats from the statement. Hybrid Vette anyone? Probably E85 Vette first. galleryPost('09CorvetteZR1Detroit', 6, 'Corvette ZR1 Live');

Hey, you know -- who can't get enough of the 600+ HP 2009 Corvette ZR1? We know we can't -- which is why we sent Team Jalopnik photographer Sherry Kraft down to the show floor to get us some more shots of Chevy's new super-hotness. We hope you enjoy these close-up and friendly shots. We did, and we ain't even dragons. galleryPost('09CorvetteZR1Detroit', 15, '2009 Chevy Corvette ZR1 FTW');

var digg_url = 'http://digg.com/autos/Detroit_Auto_Show_600_HP_2009_Corvette_ZR1_Revealed_Live'; Oh yeah, that's it baby, that's it -- work it girl! Work -- oh wait, something's not right. We know why -- that's not a model up there. Nope, it's the 2009 Corvette ZR1 -- unveiled here at the GM Style event tonight for it's first ever public unveiling. For a moment we thought maybe it was just some insanely beautiful woman. Also, we thought we were a dragon. Shoot -- wrong on both counts. Still some sexy metal -- and an amazingly sexy engine. Click the link if you've been living in a cave bereft of any and all automotive news and need to know more about Chevy's new super-Corvette. More pics after the jump.

And yes, to clear up any questions, that is Kid Rock behind the ZR1 and yes, that is Jeff Gordon driving it down the runway. But, what truly made the evening amazing was none other than Run of Run D.M.C. jumping out on stage to bust some rhymes -- or whatever it is them thar...

Who knew? Seriously -- we're here at the GM Style event and although the place is chock full of pretty people and faux hipsters -- it's unfortunately seemingly rather bereft of the "cars" at the moment. But for a site like Jalopnik , cars are the stars and supposedly we'll be seeing a very special one tonight -- it's the 600+ HP 2009 Corvette ZR1 -- and we're absolutely tingling with excitement and anticipation. So, keep checking back this evening and we'll keep you up-to-date on our first sighting of GM's super-duper car. For the moment be content with a car-star -- GM's Rick Wagoner. He looks totally hawt tonight, OMG!

Although you'll be able to see it for yourself if you're in town for the Detroit Auto Show next month (or watch the coverage live here on Jalopnik!), you still won't be able to see the new 2009 Chevy Corvette ZR1 the way we're showing it to you right now. If you'll remember, we were the first to show you the unofficial shots of the new 2009 Chevy Corvette ZR1's beautiful 620+ HP LS9 engine . Next we brought you the in-cockpit camera footage of the ZR1 taking a lap at Laguna . Then we had the opportunity to show off all of the pictures and details on the new up-powered Corvette ZR1 . Now we're going to go a little bit more in-depth, showing off all the little bits n' pieces of the supercharged small-block V8 engine under the hood of Zee-Really fast One. Above, you'll find the LS9 completely exploded and below, you'll find all the little bits n' pieces in the detail you know you need. Specific press release on the LS9 below the jump. galleryPost...

newVideoPlayer("CorvetteZR1Harlan_gawker.flv", 475, 376); Man, myth and long curly-haired legend -- Harlan Charles is the man behind the team that brought you the newly revealed 620+ HP 2009 Corvette ZR1 . We've had the opportunity to spend time with Harlan "Corvette Commander" Charles in the past, and he's always got something new to say about the 'Vette -- whether it's wearing a devilish blue stripe, or something more mundane. Without further -- you know, stuff -- here's Charles giving us a quick minute on the new shiny parts on the new super-Vette. At the Detroit Auto Show next month we'll sit down with the product manager for something more in-depth. He doesn't know that yet, but trust us, we will. galleryPost('2009ChevroletCorvetteZR1P', 6, '2009 Chevy Corvette ZR1');

So in case you weren't around, yesterday's big product story was the Hennessey 650R Nissan GT-R 0-60 time new 2009 Corvette ZR1 . And although we're pretty excited we'll be seeing it live at next month's Detroit Auto Show , there were some folks even more excited than us -- like the 'Vette-madmen at BadBoyVettes . You see, in case you didn't notice, "Jake" the Corvette racing skull , made its way into the engine bay of the new uber-Vette and let's just say those Corvette-loving boys are having a -gasm of some sort over the graphic this morning. Would that be a Jakegasm? No wait, maybe it's a Jakegasm? Whatever it is, here's what they have to say about it: galleryPost('09ChevyCorvetteZR1Black', 6, '2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1'); "Embossed on the top of the air intake snorkel ... deep down and almost out of sight ... is an evil looking "Jake" staring up at us, more sinister than ever. The reality of the situation...

Somehow we think maybe the 2009 Corvette ZR1 pre- Detroit Auto Show embargo will be lifting sometime very soon. It's the only explanation we can come up with for why Nissan felt compelled to have an embargo on the 2009 GTR's Z06-beating Edmunds Inside Line 0-60 test lift late last night. OK, maybe that was just a freak scheduling thing -- but then, like a bolt out of the blue devil , we received a press release just past midnight from Hennessey Performance Engineering calling out the Lutzian devil with the blue highlighted engine . Apparently they weren't quite done with the 2008 Viper SRT10. The boys at Hennessey came up with an additional 78 horsepower to add atop the straight-from-the-shelf 600 found in the fang-toothed serpent, bringing the total horses up to a staggering 678 and a 0-60 time to match that of the 3.3-second GT-R. It's called the 2008 Hennessey Venom 650R, and oh, how they rushed this one to bed -- someone check out the gaping hole below the jump in the...

We heard an interesting comment from a PR staffer from the General last week that made us kind of wonder about whether GM's Chevy brand would be sticking to the ZR1 name reported by MotorTrend 's Todd "Motor City Blogman" Lassa a couple of months ago. After I mentioned how I'm eagerly anticipating the ZR1's debut at the Detroit Auto Show in January I heard a quickly silenced laugh and the comment "If they ever end up sticking to one name." That suspicious comment combined with the very blue-colored engine cowl shots of the Corvette Blue Devil ZR1 SS Z07 we posted last night make us believe maybe the name really is in flux. We guess we'll have to wait and see if maybe this whole "ZR1" thing is nothing but "chasing bloggers' stories." All we know is those engine shots from last night are still up and no shock troopers banged the door down so we think we're in the clear.

This is it. Thanks to an anonymous tipster we have what appear to be the very first and clearest shots yet procured of the 2009 LS9 6.2-liter V8 engine powering the 2009 Corvette ZR1 -- something we weren't expecting to see until the Detroit Auto Show in January. But, since information yearns to be free -- and whoa, nelly, do these shots show off some serious information on what will be the most serious piece of weaponry in the General's quiver come next year -- here they are and here's what we know. Essentially what you're looking at is what appears to be a standard twin-screw-type supercharger mounted below a highly efficient air-to-water intercooler system. Now, we can't speculate if it's tied into the engine system or if it has an independent radiator system -- but we feel pretty confident all of this is a one-off, which means the General's running the show on every single horsepower above and beyond the stock horse output from the 6.2-liter V8 it all sits...

Chevrolet 's reputed 650-horsepower 2009 Corvette 's been called by enthusiasts the " Blue Devil ," the " Super Sport ," the " Mako Shark ," the " Z07 " and all sorts of other monikers -- but according to Todd Lassa, Motor Trend 's Motor City Blogman...
